D’banj’s official producer, Divine Austins popularly called Deevee recently accused Nigerian pop star and YBNL Boss, Olamide of stealing song ideas from the DB records.

“With due respect Olamide, have you run out of ideas?
Every time you come to our zones you always gotta steal some idea. I won’t let this fly,” he wrote on twitter.

Deevee was referring to Olamide’s latest single ‘Don’t Stop’, which he believes originated from D’banj’s ‘Shake It’.

At the time of this report, D’banj has stayed quiet while Olamide’s camp is yet to reply to the claims.

Records has it that D’banj in the past had wanted to sign the rapper, Olamide to his DB records but it did now work out due to undisclosed reasons.

2015 elections: How Nigerian musicians, artistes sent PDP packing – Buhari

By Levinus Nwabughiogu
KADUNA-President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the electoral victory of All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2015 general elections would not have been made possible save for the contributions of Nigeria’s musicians and artistes.

He said that the musicians during the campaigns drove home the change message which permeated the nooks and crannies of the country.

Declaring the Kaduna Music Festival (KADAMFEST) open, on Saturday in Kaduna, the president stated that the performers activities helped in mobilizing Nigerians to vote out the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

The president therefore expressed his appreciation to the industry, saying that it has earned recognition in his government.

“Many were the efforts made to build a strong party and persuade people that an alternative exists to the incompetence of the PDP. We politicians did our best. But the story of 2015 cannot be honestly told without acknowledging the contributions of creative people to the APC’s success.

“Many actors, musicians and writers – from different strands and in various styles- drew Nigerians to the banner of change. In speaking the language of the people, enlightening and mobilising them with words and images they could understand, I doubt if any politician surpassed the likes of Dauda Rarara and other musicians.

“You – our artists gave hope to our people and persuaded them to believe that things could really change. Musicians and actors across the length and breadth of Nigeria mobilized the citizenry to stand up for peaceful, orderly and transparent elections. You preached both peace and hope leading to democratic change.

“This application of creative talent to the cause of political change in a dire moment for our country deserves eternal gratitude. As President, I say a formal thank you today on behalf of myself, the APC and our victorious candidates.

“In appreciating talent, we have a duty to ensure that we do not turn our backs, or reduce the creative sector to something that we engage only during elections. We who have been inspired or benefitted in other ways from creative talent owe an obligation to help ensure that the talented can live on their gifts. Those who identified with us, sang, danced and rapped for us when we were seeking office have earned the right to our recognition.

“It is in this spirit that I commend the Kaduna State Government for organising the Kaduna Annual Music Festival (KADAMFEST) which offers a platform to acknowledge musicians from all over the country for helping to make 2015 the year of change.

“KADAMFEST also reflects the Kaduna State Government’s approach to giving momentum to the growth of the creative industry in the state. In creating jobs, government often has to provide funds and facilities to catalyse the opportunities.

“It is noteworthy, however, that the Kaduna State Government has attracted private sector sponsorship for this festival, and did not have to put in its own resources,” President Buhari said.

Watch-Olamide’s-Reaction-at-The-Headies-After-Lil-Kesh-Loose-“Next-Rated

YBNL frontman Olamide Adedeji, has apologised over his outburst at the just concluded Headies awards 2015.

“I want to apologise to my fans for my conduct, including swearing on Live TV, at the Headies event some hours ago. I recognise that you all are the most important part of my work and my journey so far, and I would not have come this far without you. Therefore, you deserve better from me. I promised to conduct myself in a more respectable manner in future,” he posted on social media platforms.

OlamideRecalled that Olamide blasted the organisers of the awards for not recognising his protege, Lil Kesh as the Next Rated Artiste. The category was won by Reekado Banks of Don Jazzy’s Mavins.

“Lil Kesh is our own Next Rated artist. F**k that sh*t!The streets ti take over.Every f**king single was a hit back to back. From lyrically, to Shoki to Efejoku. Ko ni dafun Iya anybody,” Olamide said when he climbed the stage with his whole YBNL team, during the presentation of  the award for Best Alternative act, won by his artist Adekunle Gold for the song, Shade.

After Olamide’s diatribe, Don Jazzy won Special Recognition Awards and while on stage to receive his award, he reacted to Olamide’s rant. He said “Egbon Olamide, if you want the car, come and take it.” (Next Rated win comes with a car).

Afterward, Olamide went nuts and came for Don Jazzy on Twitter. In a number of twitter rants, Olamide declared war on Don Jazzy and ripped him to pieces not only on his person but also on the way he treats artistes signed under him.

The hot thing on social media right now is the beef between Olamide of YBNL and Don Jazzy of SMD over the Headies Next Rated Award Categories.

In the spirit of this ‘battle’, we take a look at the artistes which the actions of Don jazzy have seriously damaged their careers.

Ikechukwu

ikechukwu

Top on the list is Ikechukwu, when he had misunderstanding with the now Mavin boss that caused him a album deal after his hit song, Now is the time feat. Don Jazzy himself. According to Vanguard publication on October 21, 2011 “we had a few misunderstanding along the line and called off the album deal”. Baba provoke, who dare the Don, those abs aren’t nothing.

Duncan Mighty

duncan-mighty

Duncan Mighty the king of South, Port-Harcourt first son, is another notable artist that the Mavin boss refused to sign because he jumpstart, announced the supposed deal before the boss himself, such action is punishable under the Don’s rules. Baba J tear agreement paper immediately.

He further explained that “Because if it’s Mo’hits Records, everybody gets excited. We haven’t signed any deal and he went ahead to tell people that he’s been signed to Mo’Hits. I was in America when I read on the internet that Duncan Mighty has been signed to Mo’Hits Records”.

In Mavin, people don’t get excited until the boss says so. I mean how could Duncan Mighty, he is dealing with Don Jazzy.

Terry G

Terry-G

Terry G situation was a perfect example of over excitement when he announced a deal before the boss, Don don’t spare such act. Baba J cancel deal straight, even mentioned it in an interview. Untouchable Don Jazzy I salute.

Here is a link to Don Jazzy interview with Vanguard in 2011

Dbanj

wpid-dbanj-new-photo1.jpeg1_.jpeg

The biggest of them all is Dbanj, Eja Nla but not when the boss, Don Jazzy felt his partner not a signed artist oh was out shining him, a producer. Even though Dbanj was the one that elevated him to the Don status he now enjoy. He pulled the plug on him when he least expected, eja nla run from pillar to post, hehe, Don don’t renege or bargain, not even refund, every sales is final. The rest is history as we all know how Dbanj is now fighting for his career, let’s hope he wins this fight.

Wande Coal

wande-coal

Wande Coal is another amazing talent that crossed the boss path, a seemly smart artist that the boss thought he was a kid and could easily be put to rest with few tweets but mehn that guy talent is so huge that is light won’t go off, though he is still fighting his own battle with his career after the boss called him out on twitter.

Olamide, Not ruined but fresh

olamide-olic

The hottest of the hoties, Olamide, Baddo, Eyan Mayweather awon ti 50 cent sneh and Don Jazzy issue started when Olamide felt insulted when one of his artists, Lil Kesh, nominated for Headies next rated award failed to win but Don Jazzy up coming art, Reekado Bankz was awarded. Action Olamide deem fit to address (without mentioning Don baba) but Don won’t have non of those diplomatic nonsense, grab the mic called out Olamide on stage to come and take the car meant for the winner. Baba reiterated how big he is in case that street boy called Olamide has forgotten his place. Baba J said he can afford to buy another car for his artist. Hehe, that street boy called Olamide has been jumping up and down on twitter since then, insisting he is no Dbanj.

We are yet to see how this will play out but in case you are Olamide fan, go on your knees now and start praying.

HEADIES organisers release statement, address Olamide/Don Jazzy saga, other issues..

Olamide-Don-jazzy

The organisers of the Headies have released a statement in defence of the 2015 edition of the awards ceremony which took place on Friday, January 1, 2016.

Not a few artistes and fans have complained of perceived bias regarding the process of nomination and also the selection of winners.

Reacting to the grumblings, the Headies organisers vouched for the fairness of the awards in a press release, on Monday, January 4.

“We are proud of what we have achieved over the years. The Headies stage has birthed the careers of many artistes who are of A-list status today.

We are also glad that we have reinstated pride and prestige into the winning of a locally organised music awards and, we have celebrated artistic ingenuity for 10 straight years; a feat no other group before us was able to achieve.

Every year, the screening team collate all creative materials released in the year in review and screen for nomination. This tedious process goes on for at least three months before the screening team comes out with a final list.

The voting categories, such as ‘Song Of The Year’, ‘Artist Of The Year’, & ‘Next-Rated’ are left strictly for fans to vote and choose the winners. We wish to say categorically that we do not tamper with the outcome of the voting process.

The limit of our involvement in this voting process is to advice the nominees to engage their fans and solicit for their votes. We do not accept any responsibility for failure on the part of the nominees or their record label, when they fail to do this.

Unfortunately, most times, Voting, Year In Review and Definitions Of Each Category, are generally taken for granted by many artists. We can also attest to, and hereby state categorically that, there is no evidence that any of the artistes aggrieved and vocal about their displeasure to the turnout of the award, voted in the ‘Next-Rated’ category, as our voting process captures email addresses and phone numbers.

We have ensured that the awards happened regardless of sponsorship, and that it gets better with each passing year, without giving excuses about challenges. We may not have gotten everything 100% right, but integrity has been our watch-word.

The 109 Nigerian artistes that have won can attest to the fact that they did nothing different from those that have not. Awards by nature, are and will always remain, controversial except every nominee gets one.

We try to ensure that winners are within reach before announcing their category, as the whole essence of celebrating talents will be defeated without that.

While it is not out of place for an artiste or a party to vent their disapproval, we strongly condemn all kinds of improper conduct and the use of profanity on live television. In the same manner, we condemn provocative comments.

In all, we see no use or reason for a disgruntled artiste or party to destroy valuable properties put in place to give them extra comfort before they perform or come on stage. This is totally unacceptable and will be addressed.

We congratulate all nominees and winners of The Headies 2015 and wish them a more successful 2016.”

Debbie Rise, record label at war

Debbie-Rise

By Kehinde Ajose

2016 has been called the year of beefs by music pundits and the year appears to be moving in that direction. First off was the Olamide and Don Jazzy saga which has been settled, Cynthia Morgan and Davido and now Debie Rise is at war with her record label 800 Records. The season 3 winner of Nigeria Idol recently took to her instargram account to state that she has dumped her record label.

Debbie-RiseShe puts it this way: “This is to officially announce that I Olurishe Deborah also known as Debbie Rise am no longer under contract with my former record label/management. Despite failing to perform their contractual obligation scheduled for the 2nd week of August 2015, the record label went ahead to unilaterally, unduly, unlawfully unfairly repudiate the then existing contract on the 13th of August 2015.”

In their response, 800 Records states that Debie Rise is still signed to their label and her contract won’t end until 2019 “This is to inform the general public that the artist known as “Debie Rise” (Miss. Olurise Deborah Ebunoluwa) is still signed to and under contract with 800 Records .

Please note that the exclusive recording and management contract between us and Debie Rise has not been terminated or repudiated as falsely insinuated and same is valid and subsists until 2019!Take notice that any party contracting with Debie Rise as a recording or performing artist and/or in respect of sales of any of her songs or anything to do with entertainment, without our prior consent/authorization would be doing so at its/his/her peril and we shall not hesitate to bring the full wrath of the law to bear on such individual and/or organization; including suing them for aiding and inducing breach of contract and account for profit.”

This isn’t the first time an artiste will be at war with a record label. In time past, artistes like Vector , Brymo and Soul E had contractual issues with their former record labels.
